HFSB Timeline:
- 2006/2007: G8 policy leaders voice concerns about the financial stability issues in relation to hedge funds
- Summer 2007: 14 leading managers decide to respond by developing a set of best practice standards to be adopted by hedge fund managers
- Early 2008: The Hedge Fund Standards are published after extensive industry consultation, the founders commit to adopt them
- Summer 2008: The Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) is fully established, including a permanent Board of Trustees with strong investor representation
- Autumn 2008: The UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) lends strong support to the HFSB. "... takes compliance with these Standards into account when making supervisory judgements"
- July 2010: 60 Hedge Fund Managers from the UK, the US, Europe and Asia have committed to the HFSB.
